We hold women’s speakers corner events throughout Scotland. This is an opportunity for any women to speak up about women’s rights. We are non party political.

Govan, Glasgow
Our first Speakers Corner event took place at the Mary Barbour statue in Govan, Glasgow. You can find videos of our excellent speeches, poems and singing on our youtube channel

Ayr
Our second event took place in Ayr. Despite the slightly dreich summer weather we were delighted to listen to more women speaking about women’s rights in Scotland.
—
Aberdeen
We were delighted to hear from a number of Aberdeenshire women at our event in Duthie Park. Unfortunately our event was marred by violence from a trans rights activist. However, being women who won’t wheesht, our speakers persisted.

Falkirk
We were in Falkirk on 27th August.
Many women who haven’t spoken at an event before took to the stage to share their experiences.
And a massive thank you to the women who came all the way from Shrewsbury.
And, as usual, we all made time for some socialising afterwards.

Rutherglen Hustings
We invited all of the candidates for the Rutherglen & Hamilton West by-election to a hustings to to discuss issues affecting women.
Unfortunately, only 5 candidates accepted our invitation to attend the hustings, although the SNP were represented by way of 2 Councillors & their families (Janine Calikes & Alistair Fulton) who stood outside on a street corner “protesting”.
The event was standing room only & candidates were asked about many different issues affecting women from education, surrogacy & disability.

Skye
We were so lucky to be invited to hold a Women Won’t Wheesht event on the beautiful Isle of Skye on 24/09/23.
Women, including some well-kent faces, travelled from all around the UK to attend, and we were made so welcome by the lovely women on Skye.
We even had Women Won’t Wheesht cupcakes.

Rutherglen Street Stall
Women’s Rights Groups across Scotland united in Rutherglen on Saturday 30th September.
We were so gratified to learn that women’s rights to single-sex considerations is no longer a ‘niche’ issue, and members of the public in Rutherglen are so knowledgeable, & as horrified as we are by the disregard some Politicians show towards women & children.
We were made to feel so welcome.
